Deeds

So deeds in LOTRO are pretty cool.  Deeds are special tasks you discover as you play.  When you complete a deed you get turbine points and usually either a title, skill, or trait.  Turbine points are used to buy expansions and quest packs in the Turbine store.  It's a good idea to hang on to these until you absolutely have to use them.
Deeds can be anything and anywhere, so it's a good idea to complete all the quests you can in every area to make sure you've found and completed all the deeds.

There are four types of deeds for each region:
Slayer deeds - require you to kill certain mobs
Explorer deeds - require you to find certain places
Lore deeds - require you to find certain objects
Reputation deeds - deeds that increase your standing with a certain faction (more on reputation later)

There are deeds for specific classes, races, skirmishes, hobbies, instances, the epic line, and social deeds.

Class deeds can only be completed by a specific class.
Race deeds can only be completed by a specific race.
Skirmish deeds are completed in a skirmish and are based on killing specific mobs or groups of mobs.
Epic deeds are completed when you finish each book of epic quests.
Instance deeds are done inside instances and vary in what is required to complete them.
Social deeds are received when another player targets you for an emote, like giving you a hug or saluting you.
Hobby deeds are completed by catching different kinds of fish.

Complete lists of all the deeds can be found here:

Basically do anything and everything you can, and have fun exploring Middle Earth!
